Borgia TartufI, A BEAUTIFUL STORY
Giuliano Borgia was born near Florence and moved to his mother's native village of Otranto when he was still very young. That is where the adventure began: with his father Aldo, he discovered the Salentinian truffles found in the territories by the sea, unique and still almost unknown. In their first restaurant, "Al Tartufo", they learned how to best utilise these precious mushrooms, and they also created truffle-based products that they sold worldwide on line. With time came recognition: Borgia is now one of the few truffle masters with a regional license, and was recently elected regional Vice-president of A.R.P.T. (Apulian Regional Association of Truffles), a truffle hunter for scientific purposes, a Knight of the Truffle and Wines of Alba and a member of the Technical Committee of the Puglia Region Agriculture Association. Together with the Municipal Administration of Giurdignano, he is the promoter of the City of the Truffle recognition and of the Truffle Fest-A, held annually between May and June.
Today, Giuliano and all his family are ready for a new challenge: CASA BORGIA, a new restaurant between Otranto and Giurdignano, surrounded by olive trees and close to the sea.
